An activist who snuck into a hospice and took a selfie with a woman's dying father because he opposed her support of LGBTQ rights showed no emotion as he was sentenced over his sick harassment campaign.

Bubba Pollock, 35, was slapped with two months in prison after pleading guilty to criminally harassing Britt Leroux, 38.

Pollock, of London, Ontario, vocally protested drag queen story times and was seen on video promising to pay people up to $500 to sabotage the events.

He got into a vicious debate with Leroux, which culminated in him driving 120 miles to the Windsor hospice where Leroux's father Andre Leroux was receiving palliative care and snapping the picture in an attempt to taunt his victim.

'I'm happy that he's gonna be held responsible,' Leroux told CBC outside court. 'I'm fearful that he's not going to learn anything in jail. I think he needs more intense rehabilitation.'

Pollock remained unemotional as Ontario Justice Mark Hornblower described his behavior has 'an exercise of power over someone else, intended to send a message of intimidation'.

He blasted him for having used an elderly man as a 'prop' and stated jail time is necessary to 'denounce conduct of this nature'.

Hornblower added that while everyone has the right to express their opinions, the activist had gone far beyond the enshrined parameters of free speech.

The court heard how Pollock drove to Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and gained access to Andre's room before taking a picture of himself beaming at the camera with the unconscious man in the background.

The image was then shared in a Facebook comment thread seen by mom-of-two Leroux.

She said she was left so intimidated by the ordeal, that it prevented her from sharing an obituary when he father passed in July 2023.

It also prompted her to spend $1,300 on a security system and $600 for a new cellphone which she was advised to obtain by Windsor police. 

At sentencing, Pollock was ordered to reimburse the costs as restitution, with the judge describing the impact on Leroux's family as 'life altering'.

Leroux remains on medication to help deal with anxiety caused by Pollock's actions. 

Hornblower also ordered him to keep a 100 meter distance from the family at all times. 

Leroux arrived at the sentencing with her dad's ashes and wearing his favorite shirt. She burst in to tears as Pollock was led away to start his sentence.

'I wanted him to know, well, that man that you took that picture with, this is all he is now,' she explained.

'He's reduced to ash, and this is what we all will be one day, and you have to be a better person and hopefully he learns that.' 

Pollock's lawyers attempted to argue that his actions were linked to his various mental health conditions, including ADHD and bipolar disorder.

But Hornblower noted that he has four previous convictions, including a 2019 revenge porn case.




Pollock was given a two month jail sentence, three years' probation including a social media ban and ordered to stay away from Leroux and her family and pay her restitution

Pollock was supported in court by fell anti-LGBTQ activists who jeered and mocked Leroux outside court until they were dispersed by police.
